David Murdoch, MD

David Murdoch, MD, MSc, DTM&H, FRACP, FRCPA, FFSc (RCPA) is a clinical microbiologist and infectious diseases physician, and Head of Pathology at the University of Otago, Christchurch, New Zealand. His research interests include the epidemiology, diagnosis and prevention of respiratory tract infections, pneumococcal disease, legionellosis, and bloodstream infections. He has a particular interest in the microbial etiology of pneumonia and is the laboratory director of the Pneumonia Etiology Research for Child Health (PERCH) project which is focussed on determining the causes of severe pneumonia in children from developing countries.
